Immigrants are all over the US these days to rally that they should be able to work here while being an illegal immigrant. Across from tijiuana to San Diego some 400 boycott supporters blocked an access lane to not allow Mexicans to cross the international brigde to come to the US to shop. In Hondurous union members boycotted US drinks and food. In Mexico Federal officals tried to stay out of it but many signed the boycotts. These boycotts are going to put a damper on US businesses such as McDonalds and Wal-Mart but it's only going to make Americans more angry. Immigrants and supporters also rallied in Grand Island today some 2,000 people were involved and many missed work to be involved. Rescuers maintain contact with trapped miners

Rescuers are trying still to get thier two miners out of a century old goldmine in Northern Tasmania. Brant Webb and todd Russel are trapped and have been for 7 days it has been horrible for their family and friends and can't wait for their loved ones to be rescued. 12 Meters of hard and possibly unstable rock lay between the rescuers and trapped. The miners are trapped in a cage and the rescuers are more concerned with the food and water that they need. There was also a man who was killed during the process which was their friend and co-worker. They are now communicating through yelling through a 16 foot pipe. They are now using a new method of digging them out that seems to be really effective. The men seem to be doing OK and are remaining very tough. First Partial Face Transplant

A woman has had the first partial face transplant and now 5 months later she has full feeling in her face. Isabel Dinoire, 38, from France, has stated that the hardest part of the recovery is getting to know herself again. She has not yet fully accepted her new face. She looks at pictures of herself before and is shocked at the difference. Her scars have considerably healed and her speech has improved with more facial mobility. Dinoire was mauled by her laboradore while knockod out by drugs and was left with a lipless mouth and most of her nose missing. The surgery took 15 hours and she got a new nose mouth and chin. She thanks the family of the donor the most for her new face and allowing her to be visible again. To this day she only leaves her apartment if accompanied and she has not replaced the mirrors that she took out of her house. Donoire has to take 10 pills now down from 20 and examine her face everyday with a magnifying glass to make sure she doesn't reject it.

The man who saved Howard Hughes

Hero William Durkin dies at age 79. Durkin pulled Howard Hughes from a burning plane that he had been test-piloting in Beverly Hills. Durkn would have turned 90 on Sunday. He died of a heart attack. On July 7, 1946 Durkin pulled the billionaire out of a fiery wreckage of a XF-11 reconnaissance plane and rescued the eccentric billionaire. Hughes burned 78 percent of his body from his forehead to his knees. Less than a year later, climbed back into a cockpit of an XF-11 for a successful test flight. The crash was the centerpiece of the movie "The Aviator" which stars Leonardo Dicaprio as Hughes. There were rumors that spread around that Durkin had recieved a generous reward from Hughes but his daughter said that he had not he said that he didn't think he should be paid for doing the right thing. Durkin had retired from the Marines as a Captain and then worked in the food industry and retired in Palm Springs. Bush ratings fall to new low

Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all time low; 32 percent, as shown on a CNN poll on Monday. 60% of Americans show that they disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job. The Response of Hurricane Katrina had a big impact on his ratings. Also his involvement in the Iraq war, an now the rising gas prices. With the ongoing war in Iraq and rising gas prices the outlook on Bush's rating in'st looking so good. People have many mixed feelings about Bush. No one wants our troops over there being killed or gas prices to go up but what can we do about it. Only 2 more years until Bush is done and besides what exactly do we know about what's all going on over seas all we hear is the bad stuff!!

Msury Povich sued

Maury Povich and other co-worker are being filed with a $100 million sexual harrasment charge. Bianca Nardi who works for Maury Povich said that they made her watch pornos and made sexual remarks toward her. She also claims to have had a heavy workload because Donna Ingber, another woman who is being charged, didn't do her work because of her relationship with maury. Gary Rosen, the spokesmen for the Maury Povich show denies the allegations fully. They said that they will defend this lawsuit vigorously. Rosen said they have done a full investigation and there is no reason to believe this is true. Nardi also said that the Povich show made her wear short skirts and low tops and made her wear microphones and go undercover to the bars and tape married men agreeing to have sex with her. The lawsuit asks for at least $100 million in damages. I think maybe Maury's shows where going to his head, I think he just wanted to live one of his stories. Title of the next Maury show, "False allegations for sexual harrasment!"

I am currently going to school for Social Work; social workers have thier own code of ethics and the social work profession is rooted in a set of core values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, intergrity, and competance. Social work is a profession to meet needs of all people. They have to handle each client with much care. They have to keep confidentiality tightly, they aren't allowed to judge anyone by any means, they have to watch conflict of interest. The social work profession is very important and is in high demand. You have to have lots of patience and love for what you do. You must be prepared for the best and the worst. Communication in the workplace is essential for a good work environment. You have to have good writing, verbal, and listening skills to have good communication between workers. To work as a team you must be able to communicate effectively. When a message is sent it goes through stages you need to be sure that it the message says what it is intended to say, then the reciever gets the message and the sender needs to be sure that they recieved the message correctly and it is understood. In a company there are many different things riding on good communication skills such as marketing, organizing, and problem solving. Communication in a business is most important when it comes to customers; their needs come first and if you screw up what they want your likely to lose business. Communication is very important and should be used with care it is an important part of everyday life!

Gas Prices Hit Record highs

Crude oil prices broke through $75 a barrel on Friday hitting another record. This is happening all because of Irans nuclear ambitions. The US also doesn't have much oil supplies either. Gas now is around $2.85 a gallon and still rising on the west coast it's more that $3 a gallon! Gas prices are also high from hurricane Katrina but most of the reason is the war in the middle east with Iran and also the rebels in Nigeria. Gas is expected to rise even more and will soon be too expensive to even drive to work. Thses prices are getting out of control and ridiculous! It's killing people to fill up thier vehicles. I'm sure it still won't stop people from traveling in all but will slow people down. Hopefully we can get these prices under control and back down to a reasonable price.

Dear Abby is a helpful website to get someone elses opinion about things. It's a webiste where you can write letters and ask questions sbout anything. You can ask her anything from relationship advice to wedding advice. It's great, and her answers are quite entertaining also. She is very clear with what she writes back. The topics that people write about vary from people to people. There are some that are quit interesting. The one that's on the website now is about baby talk. Someone wanted to know if baby talk is good for babies. Dear Abby answers with her personal research. These advice columns are really important to some people; they love to get advice about things they don't know what to do with. Afghan reconstruction

There's a clinic across the way in a canvas lean-to where the doctor is treating infants on a dusty plastic cooler. The only way to keep cool is too find a small amount of shade behind a wall or behind eachother. In 2002 the US launched an aggressive effort to rebuild or refurbish 1,000 schools and clinics. However flaws in construction made them fall short. By September 2004 the $73 million US Agency for International Development Program had produced only 100 finished buildings. At the beginning of this month only 40 more have been finished and turned over to the Afghan government. There were many mistakes and misjudgements as to how these could be built in a country where they don't have much to work with. Thier winter snows are too much to bear and they don't have cranes or other building luxuries. Hopefully they can exceed in this so these people can have a clean clinic and a cool place to sit like we do here.

The Matchmaker website is very cool. It's a website where you can go to meet other singles with the same interests as you. First you create your own profile; search the site. You can search by location, age, interests, and 100 other personal preferences. Then you connect with someone when your ready. When you want to connect with someone you upgrade to Gold membership and have to pay a small fee. The fee is varied but can be as low as .25 a day. A small fee for love! You can connect to a chat room and communicate that way or they also offer instant instant messaging or voice and video messaging. You can just use the keyword search and type in an interest such as; "animal lover" or "loves to travel." Matchmaker also provides a newsletter and dating advice to help you set up your profile, search, and how to keep a relationship alive. It's a great website with many sucess stories you can read about. I actually have a cousin who was married in January and they met on Matchmaker. It's a good website to look for that special someone!

Miscommunication

Have you ever said something to the opposite sex and mean one thing and they totally turn it around to make it look like something else. Well part of our problem is we sometimes don't listen but on the other hand sometimes things can be misinterpreted due to gender differences. Women and men don't think alike; they don't hear alike either. Men and women can be sensitive, aggressive, nurturing all the same. It's just in different ways and with different meanings. It is a big controversy right now whether men and women do actually think differently. I think they do. The way we percieve things make a huge differenct in our communication world. Moussaoui Trial

Zacarias Moussaoui is a french citizen of Morrocan descent who is the only person charged in the 9/11 incident. He was arrested on August of 2001 for immigration after requesting info on flying a 747. Moussaoui plead guilty to the charges against her; some of the charfges are: conspiracy to commit aircraft piracy, conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism, conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction, and a few other charges. December 13, 2001 he was moved for trial, the last week in March was the most intense with trial almost every day. This ongoing process has be on for 5 years almost and today he is eligible for death penalty. Coming up in his trial they will decide if he should be put to death. They will here testimonies from the victims families from 9/11 and weigh anything else that may change their decision. This trial could take up til the end of may to be finished. Let's hope he gets what her deserves!!

Prisonbreak

The show Prisonbreak is one of this season's best shows!! I can't stop watching it!! For those who haven't watched it; Michael Scoffield is a man whose brother is in prison on death row for a crime he didn't commit. So Michael is a structional engineer who gets the blueprints and forms an ingeneous plan to break his brother out. He then decides to rob a bank to be arrested and thrown in prison; the same prison that his brother is in. This show started last season and then stopped in December and started again last week. It is an edge of the seat show, but I don't think it's going to last long it's not a show that can go on. I recommend this show to everyone, watch it sometime!!!http://www.fox.com/prisonbreak/

Nebraska Weather!!!

Spring break was extended! How did everyone like 2 extra days added on to thier spring break! The weather in NE was crazy these last couple days, March; in like a lamb out like a lion!! I-80 was closed from Lincoln to North Platte on Monday. The snowstorm also stopped the mail delivery for 2 days. Snowfall was anywhere from 6 inches near Oshkosh to 29 inches in Chambers. Most businesses were closed monday and tuesday and they feared the loss of sales. Well maybe now the snow will eventually melt and we can get back to that nice spring weather!!http://www.nebraska.tv/news/local

Online research exploration

I did the online research expoloration exercise, it was a good exercise. I didn't realize that you could do that much with google, or that there was that Nebraska website. That's cool that you can use that for free, I never knew about it. I looked up some topics such as info on Lucille Ball and war on terrorism under the government section on google. Wilson Web is a good search engine. I found some onfo about some happenings in Iraq, a new movie with Johnny Dep, and some other interesting subjects. These engine will help me in the future with my speeches and also any other informative papers.

Self-inventory worksheet

I did my self-inventory worksheet and some things that I came up with were: places I traveled- Colorado, Arizona. Dream jobs are to be a lawyer or actress, Som issues I care about are the war on terrorism and gas prices!!! Characters I like are actress Lucille Ball and of course Spongebob!! Sports I like are Basketball and Hockey. Classes I like are Psychology and Lifespan and my favorite magazines are Cosmo and People (have to know whats going on)! I don't read any books!! I Could have a few potential topics from this list. The one I will consider the most is a speech about Lucille Ball. She is one of my favorite actresses. This is a good exercise to help with finding a good topic.

I'm finally posting a blog! It took a while to figure out how to work this website and get my links on my page. But I finally accomplished it!! I am from Elwood, NE, it's a town with about 700 people in it. I am currently enrolled at UNK and CCC here in Kearney. I am in between my Sophmore and junior year, I am obtaining my 4 year degree in Social Work. Then I may go back to college and get my masters and possibly my doctorate after that. It'll be nice to have a degree finally and go out in the real world and get a good job and start life!!! That's all for now.
